I am Ibrahim Jaffar Mkamba, Tanzanian by birth. On January 24th, 2010 I will be exactly 48 years old.
I would like to suggest that our Africa Cup of Nations finals, which are currently taking place in Angola, should be held in June of years with odd numbers. That is to say, if we start the suggested arrangement in the year 2013, subsequent finals will in succession take place in 2015,2017,2019,2021 onwards. That will be so if we cling to lapse of two years after every finals.
If we decide to make it four years, those finals should take place in 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025, 2029 and so on.
Reasons for my suggesting so are based on making African players, who largely are in European Club squads, play with large part of their thinking directed to those finals rather than the case is now whereby mostly they think of their career in Europe and hence to under perform in this competition.
Also, if our finals take place in years of odd numbers, it means we will have all of them do so in different years from those of Euro and World Cup.
I hope you will consider my suggestion positively because I believe it is practicable.
